How shortly Roost?
Hi Guys and Girls,
Very shortly we ( in the south ) and particularly us Essex boys, will be lucky enough to have yet another brand new track. The track is located just on the Essex side of the QE2 Bridge close to the A13.
It is not open yet, but as we speak, work is in progress, so very soon we will be able to hit it. From the looks of the early progress pictures that have been put up, I'm already very excited.
Check it out.

That's just across the road from where the original Aveley practice track was back in the early 1970s. That brings back some good old memories for a former Essex lad now living in Lincolnshire.
Let us know when it opens Rooster and I'll get down there. It's a long journey for me now, about two and a half hours at least but I would like to see the old place again.
Sounds great only 20min for me, and a bleep on my dart tag
looking forward to hearing that sweet sound of that 500 of your's
Keeps us posted rooster.

no guts no glory..
Will do fella.
That is aong old journey, hope its worth it for you.
I rode both Aveley, and the track across the road back in the day. I was working in Grimsteads at the time, and remember young Grimbo ripping around there on a Cagiva, and me getting roosted the bjesus out of by Jimmy Dorma. Pretty sure I was riding a KX250 A5 twin shock then, or a YZ490 J. Ahhh, the memories are already flooding back. I remember it being stupidly slippery with chalk if it was wet, and some real high banking at the sides of the track.

I remember both but it was mainly the old big track going out the back where the speedway stadium is now that I used to ride. That would have been 1972/3/4. The one across the road we called 'the schoolboy track' which later got built into a proper legal track. I packed up around the time that got started in 1975.
Me, my brother and my mates used to meet Vic Allen and Alf Hagon over the original Aveley. Allen was British Champion riding Bultacos for Commerfords back then. Much too fast for us but great to be on track with him and he was always friendly and helpful. I also remember Renee Bennett used to come over there to watch.
I rode a few times at Don Smith's track back in '75, that was a good practice track. It was further up the A13 near Orsett. Do you remember that one?
