I had my KX250 done by Darren at Tillit and it has made a massive difference to the feel of my bike.
Because i'm a fat git i had to have new springs front and back as well as having a complete service. It cost me abou £360 ish but is the best money i have spent on my bike. But when sending suspension to be set up be very honest about your weight and riding capabilities. |

If UKAF is about he could maybe confirm what Paul Eddy used to do to his RM, I recollect he left them stock. (UKAF, check your PMs too!) |

Lennie - I forgot to call you about that cutting! I will later today all being well.
Paul Ed's RM250s had re-valved suspension. There was an enduro setting and an XC setting - Mark at Optimum Control does it now; it was K Tech. Tim was partly right; on the 08/09 RMZ250 the standard suspension was fantastic for XC so was left standard (but still a bit stiff for enduro). The 2010 RMZ has stiffer settings, it's better for MX but prob too stiff to be ideal for XC. Bear in mind though that Paul is around 12.5 stone kitted up. Before there's a heap of money spent on suspension it's essential to set the sag and make sure that all the linkages are properly serviced - get that wrong and the suspension will be working in the wrong part of the stroke; no amount of re-valving will sort that out. Standard suspension on most bikes is actually pretty good. When having suspension re-worked for enduro/XC it's important to go to someone who has experience in it. As well as the ones mentioned I'd also recommend Steve Plain. There will be others too, I don't have any experience of them so can't comment.

I have set the the sag and I took apart the suspension / head bearing to check and grease them when i got the bike, luckily they were fine anyway!
The rear shock is alright but its the forks which are the problem, they are just far too hard. I havent changed the oil in the but i doubt it will make much difference as it was supposed to have been done not long before I got the bike. |
